The Irish Food Market Traders Association was formed in January 2004:
To encourage the establishment of Food Markets in Ireland. The Association will work to rejuvenate and maintain existing Market Rights and to establish new Rights where necessary.
To voice the concerns of the artisan and entrepreneurial food producers who sell their hand-made or home grown produce directly to the public in Irish markets.
To work towards establishing an acceptable Code of Practice for trading in these markets.
To campaign for food safety regulations that are proportionate to the risks involved.
To strive for consistency and fairness in the enforcement of food safety legislation i.e. one set of rules throughout the country.
Food market stall-owners interested in joining the IFMTA can email the association at carolinerobinson@eircom.net
